In 2009, California passed Assembly Bill 1489 establishing decontamination contractor certification, decontamination protocols, and a health-based cleanup number of 1.5 ug/100cm² for homes identified as former meth labs. However, determination of decontamination procedures and compliance is up to the individual county health departments, check with local health departments for their requirements and protocols. Meth sampling is to be conducted by a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
