Contractors need to be registered as drug laboratory site remediators before work can be completed in Arizona. A pre-requisite of a current 40-hour HAZWOPER or 8-hour refresher is required to obtain a remediation specialist certification. Decontamination must be completed under negative air and containment. All non-porous or visibly stained materials must be removed and disposed of, all other items may be decontaminated using hot water and detergent solution and washing/rinsing three times. Post-remediation sampling shall be conducted under the supervision of a Certified Industrial Hygienist. To achieve clearance meth levels must be 0.1ug/100cm² or non-detectable. Reports are submitted to the county health department by the decontamination contractor once clearance is achieved.
